The "Altbau" building was donated to the TUM by the Schmidtler Foundation for purpose of hosting international guest scientists at TUM. The building is located in Schwabing between Englischer Garten and Münchner Freiheit (Siegesstr. 8).

The IAS has financed the complete renovation of the building under the rules of historic preservation. The house now has five fully furnished apartments for IAS Fellows visiting Munich for longer or shorter stays.

Fellows who wish to stay in the guesthouse should contact the IAS office as soon as their plans are fixed to reserve an apartment.
