TÜV Süd Visiting Professor
The program for visiting professors of Technische Universität München
The program for visiting professors of TUM offers professors and faculties of the university the opportunity of inviting scientists and experts of high international reputation to TUM for up to three months.
The TÜV Süd Visiting Professor is introduced into the academic discourse of the university through a technical conference (lecture, workshop, seminar), which is conceptually managed through the visiting professor, in the English or German language. He especially enters into dialog with students and young scientists, which can profit from his expertise and gain sustainable impulses for their own academic orientation.
In the context of the visiting professor program, events are titled „Industrie – Mobilität – Mensch/Industry – Mobility – People“. The expertise of the guest professor should focus on the fields of energy efficiency and climate protection, test processes, product and plant safety, and compliance management.
Through the financial aid of the TÜV Süd foundation, the costs are paid for travel, accommodation, organization and preparation of the events as well as, if necessary, administrative support and a monthly commission following the W3 base salary is granted.
For the entire visit, the visiting professor is awarded the honorary title TÜV Süd Visiting Professor. Further, he is entitled to a Visiting Fellow of the TUM Institute for Advanced Study, which enables the interdisciplinary exchange with top scientists and the advantage of using their services.
Each year, the visiting professor program calls for a proposal. Nominations can be suggested by all professors and deans of TUM; self-nominations are not possible. Further requirements are a nomination letter, in which the expertise of the guest professor is further specified and his contribution in the context of the guest professorship clarified (max. 3 pages), a curriculum vitae of the professor, possibly with a publication list, two external expert reports, a student statement by the guest faculty, and a estimate of the relevant costs.
With the participation of the TÜV Süd foundation, the university management decides who the award of the TÜV Süd Visiting Professorship is granted to.
