IAS awards title of “IAS Visiting Fellow”
The IAS awards the title of "IAS Visiting Fellow" to short term visitors (one week to two months) from outside TUM, who have a great international reputation as scientists or engineers and who have the intention to engage in an intensive collaboration with researchers in the Institute.
The title carries a stipend (prize) of up to 4,000 € depending on the length of stay, as well as reimbursement of costs (travel and local accommodation), for a total of 10,000 € per case.
The IAS awards the Visiting Fellowship on the basis of a nomination by a leading scientist or researcher connected to the IAS as Focus Group leader, Fellow, Member of the Advisory Council or Board of Trustees, or the TUM V.P. for International Affairs.
Details for the nomination are as follows:
1. Nominations can be made at any time of the year;
2. A nomination must include the CV of the candidate and a statement of purpose written by the proposer;
3. The nomination should also provide information on the proposed length and period of stay, and practical arrangements for hosting the candidate (the IAS can provide assistance and limited hosting facilities).
The Director of the IAS will decide on the award after consultation with the staff of the IAS and the IAS Advisory Council, taking budgetary considerations into account.
