Prof. Leon Chua, TUM-IAS Visiting Fellow

The TUM-IAS Visiting Fellow Prof. Leon Chua of the University of California in Berkeley will give two summer seminars at the Institute for Advanced Study, Nymphenburgerstraße 39 in Munich.

The topics that he will treat are the following:

July 21^st, 10:00-12:00

"Memristor Brains and Minds“

The first part will be a self-contained introduction to memristors for those who did not know what is a memristor. The second part will be on memristor applications to neurobiology, learning, and associative memory, that Chua developed from an information theoretic perspective. He will also show that brains are made of memristors.

July 21^st, 14:00-16:00

“Nonlinear Dyamics: perspective on Wolfram's New Kind of Science”

This subject will consist of rigorous mathematical theories that Chua developed and is completely original, and quite fundamental, with relevance to nonlinear dynamics and group-theoretic physics.

Due to the limited space at our Nymphenburgerstraße facility, participation is by registration only, on the basis of ‘first come, first served’.
