Bringing together 20 international experts in the field of battery research to discuss the latest findings and the tone for the upcoming years with the audience, comprising international scientists from Academia, Research Institutes and Industry

Close research and industry collaboration are critical to potent innovation and successful industrialization. In the framework of this collaboration, BMW and TUM jointly organized the MBD 2024 (March 4-5), supported by TUMint.Energy Research.

The contributions, given by 20 international experts in the field, addressed the challenges and opportunities of future Lithium-ion Batteries from different approaches, ranging from experimental to simulation studies, from fundamental investigations to the analysis of complex systems. In addition to the incremental developments in the state-of-the-art Lithium-ion Batteries, a growing focus and increasing resources are also invested in developing next-generation concepts such as the All-Solid-State Batteries technology.

The 9th edition of the MBD was dedicated to the “Design and Production of Next-Generation Batteries: Challenges and Opportunities”, focusing on bridging the gap between fundamental science and scale-up to serial industrialization. For the first time in the fine history of the conference, the topic of production technology also was in boosted focus.

Since its beginnings in 2013, the MBD is aiming to discuss the latest findings and the tone for the upcoming years with the audience comprising international scientists from Academia, Research Institutes and Industry (by invitation only).
